Web directories play a significant role in search engine ranking, as these help one to create infinite one-way links.

One should submit/register websites to only standard (established) web directories, with a top Google page rank. Quality matters.

There are business directories that request payment to ‘review and publish’ listings. Beware – do not try to BUY page-rank, as this is not even recommended by Google.

As per Google’s webmaster guidelines, paid-listings may never help one’s website in the long run. Therefore, try to get organic/natural links, the way possible.

Say no to PAID links, to avoid getting penalized by Google. Besides, instead of going after automated directories for instant submissions, try out human-edited directories, only.
